The value of Cachamsi lies in its integration with the communities of Cacha.

Along with the Duchicela Foundation, we have created strong ties with Cacha schools, daycares, and public officials, and have implemented various social, educational, and public works programs over the course of two decades.
Our close relationship with Cacha affords participants the opportunity to have ready access to schools, daycares, and health clinics for various health and community projects of their choosing. The people of Cacha are usually very welcoming, and are eager to have visitors in their community. However, we believe that the relationship between Cachamsi and the communities of Cacha should always be one of mutual benefit. For that reason, a portion of program fees are always used for community projects that promote health and education.
We are legally a nonprofit 501.(c)(3) organization, meaning that all proceeds obtained through fees are reinvested within the organization for social programs, medical equipment, curriculum improvements, and salaries for the educators and employees. Directors of Cachamsi are not salaried, rather they work on a volunteer basis.

The following is a list of the various projects and health related items the Cachamsi has contributed to:

1. Educational scholarships for highly motivated indigenous students from Cacha who have an aptitude for the health professions ($540 per student/year).
2. The construction of a new health clinic in Cacha Machangara. 3. The restoration of sewers in the key community of Cacha Machangara
4. Stock medicines, ekg's, laptops, lab equipment, books, stethoscopes
5. Emergency care of patients from Cacha, transportation costs of patients to Quito for specialist evaluation, as well as emergency diagnostic imaging (x-ray, ultrasound, CT).
6. Transportation for the rural physicians and nurse to the various communities of Cacha.
7. Implementation of an electronic medical records system.
8. Support studies, workshops, and conferences taking place in Cacha or about Cacha.
9. Support and pay for English classes and computer classes in the community of Cacha.
10. Medical journal subscriptions at Riobamba hospitals.
11. Medical textbooks for Riobamba hospitals.
While many of these projects are supported in part through program fees, many participants, their friends, and relatives have made donations to strengthen these areas. Knowing that Chimborazo and Cacha are some of the most impoverished areas of Ecuador we hope you would help us in our community asset protection.
